Categories: Rail Services

This has just been brought to our attention and will be another good opportunity to raise the issue of rush hour service reductions

" Stakeholder Newsletter, October 2009

December timetable

With the exception of a pending decision from the DfT regarding the Maidstone East / Cannon Street services, the timetable is now complete and the full version will be on our website shortly. If you have not yet seen it we have a “print your own timetable” link allowing passengers to download a personalized timetable for their particular service. Posters will be at stations and hard copy booklets available from ticket offices four weeks in advance of the implementation date on 13 December. Announcements will also be made at stations and on trains advising passengers that it’s “all change” from 13 December.

To make sure passengers are fully informed, in addition to our regular monthly “Meet the manager” sessions at London terminals, we will also be holding regional early evening sessions at the following stations:

Blackheath – 10 November

The sessions will be from 1700 to 1900 and senior managers will be on hand to answer any questions passengers and stakeholders may have and to hand out timetable booklets.

With the introduction of high speed domestic services to St. Pancras and a 5% increase in capacity this is the biggest change in rail services on the Southeastern network for 50 years. All current train patterns will change, and while the timetable has generally been well received, no timetable change will please everybody. Once the new timetable “beds in” in the New Year and passengers adjust to new journey patterns, we will be monitoring train loadings and if it is believed necessary, we can discuss amendments with the Department of Transport."

southeasterns communications of the timetable changes has ben appalling . I had no idea of these major timetable changes and cuts in the train I use until recently . The local southeastern staff at my station are not aware that people on the woolwich line will no longer be able to get to blackheath or lewisham in peak times in order to get a train to victoria.

I currently commute to victoria from abbey wood and these changes are a shock. I will now have an extra long journey of 20 -30 mins by tube or bus from charring cross or waterloo east .

I think you hide behind the DfT . Why cut peak services for a whole branch line ? Why not offer a compromise allow one or two peak trains on the woolwich branch to get to blackheath?

I hope you monitor from day one and suggest some changes as soon as possible
